## **Customer Challenge**
**E-Connection operates a Closed System (OSKneT) with several wind farms and a BESS on the iconic Oosterschelde storm surge barrier. With 88MW of wind capacity, the site faces the challenge of renewable intermittency and grid congestion.**
E-Connection’s goal: eliminate local grid congestion, prevent energy wastage, and ensure the site contributes to grid stability—without compromising operational reliability. E-Connection installed a 20MW/40MWh BESS
- **Storing surplus wind energy** during peak production
- **Injecting stored energy** into the grid when demand and prices are highest
- **Providing aFRR balancing services** for TenneT
- **Optimizing participation in Day-Ahead** and Intraday wholesale markets
All activations are automated and integrated via Flexcity’s advanced control platform, ensuring seamless grid participation and protecting operational integrity.
