Discover the mFRR service in Italy

mFRR (standing for “Manual Frequency Restoration Reserve”) is the tertiary Italian electric reserve. These reserves - 3 in number - are implemented by the TSO, Terna, to balance the power grid.

mFRR is developed within the pilot project UVAM (Virtual Mixed Aggregated Unit) led by Terna in order to open its electric reserves to different assets and actors, according to European regulation and real needs.

Flexcity has participated in UVAM mFRR since 2018.

Valorize your flexibility  in mFRR and commit yourself

Who can participate?

1.

An asset which CONSUMES OR PRODUCES ELECTRICITY.

2.

An asset able to MODULATE ITS ELECTRIC POWER WITHIN 15 MINUTES.

3.

An asset able to modulate its electric power a few times in the year.

How does it work?

You must be able to modulate the electric power of your asset during less than 1 hour on average on working days between 15h and 22h, and 4 times a year at least. Different ways exist to participate in mFRR depending on whether you are a consumer or a producer.

An electric producer will have to increase its production within 15 minutes.

An electric consumer will have to reduce its consumption within 15 minutes

- Illustration of an electric asset consuming less power to lighten the grid when there is an important lack of electricity.

Your remuneration

Flexcity remunerates you for being available to the grid with your flexible power (availability remuneration) and when you really deliver power (activation remuneration).

In 2021, a flexible asset always available at the specific times can create up to 46 000€/MW in mFRR of availability remuneration according to market prices.
